Despite tensions and vocal opposition from residents of Bannanes Bay over their relocation due to the Government of Saint Lucia’s ongoing infrastructural development, hope arrived in the form of education. On Thursday, June 5, 2025, the Saint Lucia Air and Seaports Authority (SLASPA), in collaboration with the Bank of Saint Lucia, hosted a financial literacy workshop aimed at empowering affected fisherfolk and residents to make informed decisions about the compensation they are set to receive.
