Saint Lucia’s national men’s and women’s volleyball teams are currently in the British Virgin Islands for the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Championships, which runs from August 12 to 16.
Team Saint Lucia departed for the tournament on Wednesday.
In an online post, Volleyball St. Lucia expressed confidence in the athletes, stating, “Our athletes are ready to compete, represent, and make Saint Lucia proud. Let’s show our teams some Lucia Love as they take on the best in the region!”
After successfully overcoming some financial challenges, the women’s team, the defending champions, will be competing alongside the men’s team.
The female squad features a strong lineup with seven players returning from their ECVA championship win in 2024, including several award winners. Captain Cindy Wilson, who has been recognized as the best setter at the ECVA tournament, leads the team.
In addition to Wilson, the returning players include Tenayestigni Joseph, who earned accolades as the best digger and best libero in 2025, and Amalia Louis, recognized for her excellence as the best outside hitter and best receiver. The squad also features Nevaeh Wilson, Denila Prospere, Clio Phillip, and Chenoa Evans. Under the guidance of head coach Kendall Charlery and manager Khrisann Eugene, the team is rounded out by Jemima Evans, Nyoka Nugent, and Yosherbel Emmanuel.
Saint Lucia has an impressive record in the ECVA championships, having won six senior women’s titles, including championships in 2022 and 2024, and the most recent Final Four in September 2025.
The men’s team will be competing at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town, Tortola. They previously won bronze at the last full ECVA competition and silver in last year’s Final Four.
