Last Friday, Bacary Sagna, the Arsenal legend and former professional football icon, made a special appearance at a gathering hosted by the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA).

This event marked a key moment in the SLTA’s strategic partnership with Arsenal Football Club.

As part of the ongoing marketing and promotional package deal with the 2026 Premier League champions, the SLTA recently completed a destination photo and video production featuring Sagna. His name, image, and likeness will be utilized to promote Saint Lucia across various marketing initiatives.

During his visit, Sagna engaged with Saint Lucia’s growing Arsenal supporter community, including the local group “758 Gooners,” at a dedicated fan cocktail reception. This unique event allowed fans to meet the former defender, participate in an interactive Q&A session, and celebrate the significant partnership with one of the world’s most recognized football clubs.

Sagna shared insights about his transition from player to coach and youth ambassador. He expressed his deep affection for football and loyalty to both his club and his home country, France. Beyond spending quality time with his family, Sagna is committed to “giving back” to communities using the wealth of knowledge and experience he gained throughout his career.

A focal point of his visit was the ambition to establish an Arsenal Football Academy in Saint Lucia. Sagna remarked that the ultimate goal is “to see one of your local players sign up to play professionally for Arsenal.”

Additionally, Sagna visited the Saint Lucia Under-14 National Football Team at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, where he conducted a coaching session, joined the players on the field, and shared invaluable insights from his professional journey. He encouraged the young athletes to maintain discipline, dedication, and focus on their personal and athletic development, highlighting the importance of unwavering commitment in pursuing opportunities within football.

Tourism officials and representatives from Arsenal Football Club provided insights into the significance of this unique partnership and the benefits anticipated over the next five years. They outlined the contractual arrangements and the prospects for long-term collaboration.

An Arsenal representative stated that Saint Lucia will be prominently featured in the club’s promotional campaign, asserting, “We will let the world know about Saint Lucia.”

The destination production was conducted in advance of the 2026/27 English Premier League season. This partnership will grant Saint Lucia significant global exposure, showcasing the destination throughout Emirates Stadium and across Arsenal’s men’s and women’s football operations, along with various high-value branding and promotional placements aimed at enhancing Saint Lucia’s visibility among millions of football fans worldwide.
