The St. Lucia Semi Professional Football League {SPFL} is back this weekend with two enticing football matchups at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort on Sunday, August 2nd.

In the first encounter, the Sulphur City Boyz {Sourfiere} will come up against a solid Anse La Raye outfit that has secured their place as one of the more exciting teams to watch in local football.

The 6pm match is the first encounter since the league took a lengthy break for the annual St. Lucia Carnival celebration. The nearly one-month break was expected to do the Anse La Raye team well after a not so favourable last outing against Vieux Fort South when they came up 3-0 losers, suffering through a brace from Saviola Elva and a stoppage time strike from Shan Alfred.

The second encounter of the evening will pit Canaries against Vieux Fort North in what is also expected to be a spicy affair. Vieux Fort North, no easy opponent, last played defending champions La Clery before the carnival break. That match was a hard-fought battle that ended with a scoreline of 2-2.

Additionally, Tuesday August 4th will feature Choiseul meeting Desruisseaux at 7pm and a blockbuster show between Central Castries and Gros Islet at 9pm, two teams that have registered their names among the teams to beat in the tournament.

These matched are also scheduled to take place at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds.
