Lansiquot was arrested on Monday, February 2, charged two days later, and appeared before the First District Court on Thursday. He has been remanded in custody at the Bordelais Correctional Facility.

Albert, who was from Soufrière, was fatally stabbed on January 15.

Police said officers responded to reports of a stabbing along Carl Crescent Street in Castries around 10 a.m. Albert sustained a single stab wound and later collapsed at the Jeremie Street Plaza. He was treated by personnel of the Saint Lucia Fire Service and transported by ambulance to the Owen King European Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The killing was recorded as the island’s third homicide for the year.
