A 27-year-old Saint Lucian woman has been found dead in Ottawa, Canada, with police treating her death as suspicious.
Ottawa police went to a home in the 200 block of Guigues Avenue in Lowertown on Saturday morning, where they discovered the lifeless body of Kesi Fevrier of Mon Repos.
A cousin of the deceased told St Lucia Times on Sunday that Fevrier had returned to Ottawa, Canada, where she had been studying, just ten days prior.
She had spent the summer in Saint Lucia, attending Carnival celebrations and a wedding.
Friends expressed their sadness on social media on Sunday, sharing photographs of Fevrier at various Carnival events.
“Kesi was active in all community activities, she was deeply involved in the Catholic Church and auditioned for Miss Universe-Saint Lucia,” the cousin told St Lucia Times.
A family member told St Lucia Times that relatives have learnt that Fevrier may have been lured to the apartment where her body was discovered, to “talk things over” with someone “known to her”.
Ottawa Police had responded to a separate single-vehicle collision before Fevrier’s body was discovered. A man was found inside the vehicle with injuries that police described as “suspicious in nature”.
He was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards.
There is growing speculation that the two incidents are connected.
