21-year-old dies after late-night shooting in Anse La Raye

Police are investigating a fatal shooting that has left a young man dead and sparked outrage across social media.

The incident occurred at about 11:05 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in Anse La Raye. According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, the victim has been identified as 21-year-old Shardell Deterville of Mole Street, Anse La Raye.

Deterville sustained multiple gunshot injuries during the attack. He was rushed to the Owen King EU Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at about 12:37 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4.

Police have since held one individual who is assisting with their investigation.

In the hours following the incident, several videos began circulating on social media showing moments related to the aftermath of the shooting, with many users condemning the actions of those responsible and calling for justice.

Residents have also expressed concern about the continued violence affecting communities and the loss of young lives.

Police have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
