Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre is set to speak at the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, where he will deliver Saint Lucia’s national statement during the High-Level Week of the 81st Session. His speech is planned for 2:30 p.m., but the exact time may change depending on how the session progresses.
Pierre is in New York for the General Debate, which takes place from September 22 to 26, with another session on September 28. The event’s theme is “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.”
World leaders are gathering to discuss global issues such as peace and security, climate change, sustainable development, and financing.
The Office of the Prime Minister says Pierre will also meet with other leaders on issues important to Saint Lucia while he is in New York.
Outside of his UN duties, the Prime Minister will meet with Saint Lucians living abroad. The Consulate General of Saint Lucia in New York has invited people from the city and the wider diaspora to “Engaging the Diaspora: An Audience with Prime Minister the Hon. Philip J. Pierre and the Hon. Alva R. Baptiste, Minister of External Affairs.”
The event will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 4 p.m. at Friends of Crown Heights in Brooklyn. Pierre plans to return to Saint Lucia on Sunday afternoon.
