Vieux Fort South claimed the inaugural Blackheart SLFA Under -20 Knockout Football Championship title with a stunning 4-2 victory over La Clery at the Soufriere Mini Stadium on Saturday.

Right from the start, the match presented an intriguing challenge, pitting the southern contenders against the northern challengers.
Ultimately, Vieux Fort South triumphed, quickly establishing their dominance after an exhilarating 2-2 draw at halftime. The game started with high intensity as both teams exchanged goals, captivating the packed crowd of enthusiastic fans.
Vieux Fort South took an early lead in the 4th minute with a goal from Kelvin Sylvester. However, La Clery responded swiftly, equalizing just two minutes later through McKendy Cadette after a well-executed interplay.

Vieux Fort South regained the lead from a spot kick converted by Forbes Charles, but La Clery continued to press and managed to equalize again before the halftime whistle.
The second half saw Vieux Fort South assert themselves decisively, scoring two quick goals that jolted their opponents. Jereme Toussaint broke through for a fine goal, followed shortly by another from Sylvester, bringing the score to 4-2.
As the game progressed, Vieux Fort South controlled the tempo, effectively thwarting La Clery’s counterattacks. Kyle Alexander, the tournament’s top goalkeeper, was substituted in the second half due to injury, leaving Vieux Fort South to play the final 12 minutes with ten men after Jemal Louisy received a red card for violent play.
Previously, Vieux Fort South had already established themselves in the football scene by winning the original Blackheart Knockout Football competition with an impressive four consecutive victories from 2016 to 2019. Their determination paid off as they secured the Under-20 championship title as well.
In the third-place playoff, Gros Islet triumphed over hosts Soufrière with a resounding 5-0 victory. Dervaj Edward and Shevon Byron combined for three of their goals, with Edward netting in the 4th and 26th minutes, and Byron adding another in the 9th.
Samaiel Louisien scored in the 38th minute to make it 4-0 by halftime, and Rickelme Lionel, the tournament’s leading scorer, capped it off with a goal in the 62nd minute.
